What is FTP for VSE?

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the most common and widely accepted method for transferring files over TCP/IP. FTP for VSE provides VSE customers with a robust, high-performance FTP solution for handling high-volume FTP between the VSE Host and remote locations.

The FTP Client

The batch VSE FTP client is used to transfer data between the batch FTP client and an FTP server on your network.

The FTP Server

The FTP server is accessed by FTP client applications running on your network to transfer data to VSE/ESA or from VSE/ESA via the client.

Batch Email Client

The Batch Email Client enables VSE Data types such as POWER, VSAM, Tapes, and Library files to be sent via batch jobs as email messages or attachments to email recipients. The Batch Email Client can be purchased standalone or as an add-on to FTP for VSE.

What are some of the Features and Benefits?

FTP for VSE is an external TCP/IP application. This means that FTP for VSE runs completely outside of the TCP/IP partition. Running external to the TCP/IP partition provides greater performance, vastly improved stability and better control of the transfer process.

Supports virtually all VSE data types! VSAM (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS, VRDS), POWER (RDR, LST, PUN), Libraries, Sequential files, Tape (Standard label and unlabeled) files. FTP for VSE even provides a user exit facility that can be used to access from non-standard locations.

GZIP feature automatically zips files during FTP process for speedy transfer!

Controlled access to your data! Security and audit facilities allow you to have complete control over who accesses your data.

Batch Email Client! Run batch jobs to send VSE files like Power reports to end-users as email messages or attachements!
